Promoting British Values

At Penketh Primary Academy, we teach a broad and balanced curriculum, to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society.  Through doing so, we actively promote fundamental British values.

Through collective worship and establishing a strong school ethos supported by effective relationships, we encourage our pupils to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance.

By promoting British values, we teach: democracy, the rules of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance to those of different race, gender, sexuality, faiths and beliefs.

British Values

In 2011, the government defined British Values as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.  We promote these values through our own school values, curriculum and enrichment activities.

Children and staff have worked together during PSHE lessons and assemblies to think more about how we promote these values.
